Good corporate governance and a values-driven corporate culture help us to make our processes more efficient and to incorporate ethics, the environment and social issues into our strategic decisions and approach to work.
Our corporate governance is based on international standards for good business practice. We support the UN Global Compact’s ten principles on human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption. Our commitment in this area is reflected in our policies, guidelines and the way in which we develop relationships with our stakeholders, i.e. the people and groups who have an interest in our activities.
The Code of Conduct contains the requirements we set for ourselves and our manufacturers, suppliers and partners concerning, among other areas, the work environment, working conditions, environmental impact and anti-corruption.
Our most important policies, guidelines, instructions and manuals are regularly updated and communicated to the relevant parties. General guidelines and instructions are published on our intranet, and policies that involve partners are available through this website.
The Code of Conduct contains the requirements we set for ourselves and our manufacturers, suppliers and partners concerning, among other areas, the work environment, working conditions, environmental impact and anti-corruption.
The Code of Conduct provides the foundation for work to monitor and develop our supply chain.
We make every effort to be a responsible employer and a good corporate citizen. In all aspects of our operation – including administration, purchasing, distribution, sales, repair and disposal of products – we must show respect and consideration for human rights, human health and safety, and the environment.
The Code is an integral part of our business and sets out our requirements for human rights, employee rights, the environment, impact on children’s rights, and business ethics.
The Code of Conduct is based on the UN Declaration of Human Rights, the ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, the UN’s Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the OECD’s Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, and the UN’s Children’s Rights and Business Principles. Clas Ohlson supports the UN Global Compact.
We have well-established processes for monitoring compliance and for following up on deviations from the Code of Conduct. Before we enter into a partnership with a new supplier, we check whether the specified requirements are being fulfilled; if they are not, we make sure that the supplier is prepared to rectify the identified deviations. In cases where we identify serious failings, we will not enter into a partnership. Each supplier is assessed on the requirements in our Code of Conduct at least every other year.

Showing respect and caring for people and the environment is fundamental to Clas Ohlson, as is behaving ethically and with integrity and honesty in our business practices.
Our Code of Business Ethics describes our commitment to maintaining high ethical standards. This means making sound business decisions without consideration for personal, third-party or related-party gains, not accepting, offering or paying bribes, and complying with applicable laws and regulations. All our co-workers are instructed in and must understand, accept and comply with this Code.
We always act in compliance with national laws and the Swedish Anti-Corruption Institute’s (Institutet Mot Mutor - IMM) Code on Gifts, Rewards and other Benefits in Business (the Code of Business Conduct).
The Swedish Anti-Corruption Institute (IMM) is a non-profit business organisation. Its mission is to promote ethical decision processes within business as well as within the rest of the community, and to prevent the use of bribes and other types of corruption as a means of affecting decision processes.
The Code on Gifts, Rewards and other Benefits in Business is a form of self-regulation that should be viewed as a supplement to legislation, complementing and clarifying criminal provisions. The Code is administered by the Institute.
